Every organization has the same blind spot
Skills are visible, personalities are known, and motivation — the force that determines whether someone gives their best or gradually checks out — stays hidden until it’s too late.
The patterns data can’t explain
Your organization has invested in engagement surveys, personality assessments, leadership development programs, and retention initiatives. Your people are skilled, your managers are competent, and by every visible measure, things should be working. And yet, the same patterns keep repeating.
Exit interviews say “it was a better opportunity.” Engagement scores say 72%. Neither tells you the real story.
The problem is that your leaders know their people’s skills, personalities, and strengths, but not what motivates them. Motivation is the invisible force that determines when someone engages, persists, and performs at their best, and that intelligence gap is costing you your best people, your team chemistry, and millions in replacement costs every year.

The stakes for enterprise organizations
The pressure to retain talent, maintain performance, and build resilient cultures has never been higher. Remote and hybrid work has made motivational misalignment harder to spot and easier to ignore — until it shows up in your attrition numbers — and the data says it all:
- 46% of new hires fail within 18 months.
- 89% fail due to attitude and motivation, not skill.
- A single bad hire costs 3x their salary to replace, often exceeding $250,000.
- Every departure triggers 6–9 months of productivity loss, recruitment costs, and institutional knowledge walking out the door.
When leaders apply motivational intelligence to how they assign work, communicate, and develop people, employees show up energized, feel fulfilled, and become genuinely connected to their work and their teams. And those people don’t go looking for what’s next — they stay by choice.
The Motivation Code framework
Motivation Code is built on 60+ years of scientific research using SIMA® (System for Identifying Motivated Abilities). More than one million achievement stories have been analyzed to identify 32 Motivations and 8 Motivational Dimensions that shape human behavior.
How the MCode assessment works
MCode doesn’t ask people to sort themselves into personality buckets or choose between hypothetical scenarios. It asks them to share personal stories and then rank their satisfaction in different parts of those stories.
From those lived experiences, MCode identifies the motivational patterns that drive who they are at their best:
- How they are wired to work and solve problems.
- What energizes and drains them.
- Why they click with some people and clash with others.
- What they need to succeed in their role.
Most assessments take ten minutes because they ask easy questions. Choosing moments in your life when you loved your work and felt engaged, alive, and like yourself, takes longer — and that’s exactly the point. The depth of what goes in determines the accuracy of what comes out.

The 8 Motivational Dimensions
Every individual has a primary motivational language for interpreting and responding to the world:
Achiever
Driven by measurable success and tangible accomplishments.
Driver
Inspired by challenges, competition, and forward momentum.
Influencer
Energized by inspiring, persuading, and making an impact.
Learner
Finds fulfillment in curiosity, mastery, and continuous growth.
Optimizer
Focused on refining, improving, and making things more efficient.
Orchestrator
Driven by coordinating, managing, and leading projects and teams.
Relator
Thrives on trust, deep connections, and strong relationships.
Visionary
Inspired by big ideas, future possibilities, and innovation.
What makes MCode different
MCode vs. personality assessments:
Personality assessments, like DISC, Myers-Briggs, and Enneagram, describe who you are. MCode reveals what drives you. You can have the right personality for a role and still be unmotivated by the work it requires.
MCode vs. strength assessments:
Strengths assessments, like CliftonStrengths, identify what you’re good at. MCode identifies what moves you to use those strengths. Skill and motivation are not the same thing. Knowing what someone is good at tells you what they’re capable of. Knowing what drives them tells you whether they’ll ever fully apply it.
MCode vs. engagement surveys:
Engagement surveys measure how employees feel at a point in time. MCode explains why individuals feel the way they do. And only when you know why specific feelings or behaviors are showing up can you do something about them.

Enterprise decision intelligence
Motivational intelligence isn’t a single-use tool. It changes how leaders lead, how teams collaborate, how top talent gets retained, and how hiring decisions get made.
Leadership team alignment
When those at the top don’t work well together, nothing else flows smoothly. MCode maps the motivational dynamics of your leadership team, revealing where they naturally complement each other, where friction is predictable, and how to structure communication, decision-making, and delegation around what actually drives each leader.
Leadership teams that understand each other’s motivational wiring stop treating disagreements as personal conflicts and start treating them as navigable differences.
High-potential development
Your highest-potential people are also your highest flight risk. They’re ambitious, driven, and the first to disengage when their work stops aligning with what motivates them.
MCode gives talent development leaders the ability to see what’s driving each high-potential individual, and design development paths, stretch assignments, and career conversations that keep them engaged because the work itself is energizing, not just the title or compensation.
Manager enablement at scale
Most managers lead everyone the same way — same communication style, same feedback approach, same assignment logic — because they’ve never been given a practical framework for anything else.
MCode equips managers across the organization with a shared language and specific tools for understanding what motivates each person on their team. The result: Managers who can individualize how they lead, assign work, give feedback, and recognize performance, without guessing.
Organizational restructuring
When organizations restructure, merge teams, or navigate significant change, the human side is where things break down.
MCode provides a motivational map of affected teams, showing leaders where energy will flow naturally and where resistance is predictable. Instead of managing change by announcement, leaders manage change by understanding what each person needs to engage with the new reality.
Hiring and onboarding
The MCode Job Fit Report predicts candidate success before the offer by analyzing three fit factors:
- Job fit: Whether the work will energize or drain them.
- Manager fit: Whether they will work well with their direct manager.
- Environment fit: Whether they will thrive within this specific team and workplace environment.
Custom interview questions and success predictors turn gut-feel hiring into data-driven decisions.
Measurable business outcomes
Organizations using MCode report measurable shifts across the metrics that matter:
Retention:
When leaders understand what motivates each person and lead accordingly, the root causes of voluntary attrition are addressed before they become resignation letters. Teams stop losing people they thought were happy.
Performance:
Work assigned to the right person at the right phase of a project, based on motivational alignment, not just availability, gets done faster, better, and with less friction. People spend more time in flow and less time grinding through work that drains them.
Team dynamics:
Teams with a shared motivational language communicate faster, resolve conflict more productively, and collaborate with less friction. Tension becomes about clashing motivations, which can be navigated, not about clashing people.
Hiring accuracy:
Organizations using the MCode Job Fit Report make hiring decisions based on three dimensions of fit rather than interview performance and CV review alone. The result is a repeatable, data-driven process that puts the right people in the right roles, and keeps the cost of a bad hire off the books entirely.
Manager effectiveness:
Managers equipped with motivational intelligence individualize their leadership — assigning work, giving feedback, and recognizing performance in ways that land differently for different people. The same manager gets better results from the same team, without working harder.

“Choosing my stories was harder than I anticipated, but I’m sold. The results in my MCode report are the most accurate and relevant I’ve experienced. The language to express my value helped in conversations about my next career move. It’s also helped me rethink how I work with members of my team to better nurture high performance.”

MCode in practice
Digital Agency, Cellar Door
A digital agency used MCode to reorganize its entire company around motivational balance. The result: Recurring project blow-ups — where months of work would surface as crises one to two months before delivery — stopped entirely. Teams that were motivationally balanced raised concerns early, communicated more effectively, and the agency’s profitability improved.

U.S. Federal Authority
A 40-person cyber threat team at a U.S. federal authority discovered that nearly three-quarters of their team shared the same motivational wiring — Drivers, all wired to take charge simultaneously. Understanding this pattern transformed how they structured incident response: Instead of seven people launching seven approaches at once, they designed coordination protocols around their shared drive. Four months later, the team was still using MCode vocabulary in daily interactions and proactively asking for deeper development.
The Pilot: Aligned Teams Accelerator
We don’t ask organizations like yours to commit to an enterprise rollout based on a slide deck. We ask you to prove it works with one team first.
The MCode Aligned Teams Accelerator is a structured, 30-day team development experience designed to deliver fast, measurable, lasting results with a single team, so leadership can see the impact before scaling. The investment is $3,499 for teams of up to 8 people, and results are visible within the first session.
What’s included:
MCode Premium assessments
Every person on your team gets an MCode Premium assessment with results that reveal what energizes and drains them, where they’ll naturally excel or struggle, how they can best contribute to your team, and what they need to succeed.
Team alignment training
With a Motivational Map of your team in hand, you’ll bring everyone together for three, live 2-hour team alignment trainings, covering communicating across differences, resolving conflict, and designing work that fuels performance.
30-minute feedback sessions
After the live training wraps, every member of your team gets a private 30-minute feedback session with your Certified MCode Executive Coach to ask questions, dig deeper, and apply their MCode to their role, assignments, and relationships.
What success looks like:
The Aligned Teams Accelerator is built on one core truth: You can’t align a team until you understand what drives each person. When you know the internal Motivations that fuel your people, everything about your team dynamics change for the better.
The pilot is designed to speak for itself. If the results don’t make the case for scaling, we haven’t done our job. By the end of the pilot, your organization will have:
- A custom Motivational Map of your team’s unique makeup.
- A team with a shared motivational language that they’re using in daily interactions.
- Leaders who can articulate what drives each person — and how to lead accordingly.
- Measurable shifts in communication quality, collaboration speed, and team energy.
- A clear, evidence-based case for how to scale MCode across the organization.
